Marrakech
Car rental in Marrakech
Marrakech is where most Morocco road trips start. It is the natural base for the Atlas passes, the Agafay desert, Essaouira on the coast and the long road south to Ouarzazate, all of which are far easier with your own car than on a tour bus.
The one thing nobody tells you before arriving: the medina is effectively closed to cars. If your riad is inside the walls you cannot park at its door, and the lanes are too narrow to attempt it. We work around this every day, we deliver to the nearest gate or car park and walk the keys to you, or hand the car over at your hotel if you are staying in Gueliz, Hivernage or the Palmeraie.
Delivery anywhere in Marrakech is free, and we do not add an airport surcharge if you would rather collect at Menara.
No airport surcharge
Delivery and collection at the airport, your hotel or your riad are included. Competitors commonly add 8–15%.

Driving in Marrakech: what actually matters
- The medina is not drivable
- Cars cannot enter most of the old town. Tell us your riad name when you book and we will arrange the closest practical handover point.
- Parking is guarded, not metered
- Most car parks and street bays are watched by a gardien. A small cash tip (a few dirhams, more overnight) is normal and expected.
- Scooters come from everywhere
- Marrakech traffic is dense and scooters filter constantly. Speed limits are 60 km/h in town, worth respecting, radar checks are common.
- You do not need a 4x4 for the Atlas
- The Tizi n'Tichka and Ourika roads are fully paved. A normal car is fine; take an SUV for comfort and ground clearance, not necessity.
- Agafay desertabout 40 minutes
- Ourika valleyabout 1 hour
- Essaouiraabout 2 hours 30
- Casablanca (A7 motorway)about 2 hours 30
- Ouarzazate over the Tizi n'Tichkaabout 4 hours

Can you deliver the car to my riad in the medina?
We deliver as close as the lanes allow (usually the nearest gate or public car park) and hand the keys over there. Give us your riad name when booking and we will agree the exact spot in advance over WhatsApp.
Is there a charge for delivery in Marrakech?
No. Delivery and collection anywhere in Marrakech, including Menara airport and the Palmeraie, are included in the price you see.
Do I need a 4x4 to visit the Atlas mountains?
No. The main mountain roads are sealed and a standard car handles them comfortably. An SUV is worth it for extra comfort on longer drives or if you are heading toward the desert pistes.
Where can I park overnight?
Most riads and hotels can point you to a guarded car park nearby, and many arrange it for you. Overnight guarded parking typically costs a small cash fee.
